Welcome to School of Electronics & Information Engineering 

    The School of Electronics & Information Engineering is part of Central South University of Forestry & Technology, founded in 2001, and is derived from Department of Electronics Engineering founded in1994. The school is combined with a teaching and research staff of several specialties: computer, communication engineering, micro-electronics, communication engineering, and automation, each covering the whole field of Electronics & Information Engineering.
    The school is composed of one department of computer science and technology, with four staff rooms: electronics, automation, communication engineering and computer. Also there is one institute of electronics & information engineering, one laboratory of circuit & electrotech, and one datacentre.
    There are three specialties with a bachelor degree, two specialties with a master degree, and six research subjects, covering two first subject fields in the catalogue of specialties and subjects, published by China State Council in 1997. Our school has made a reasonable plan about development and construction, it always pays more attention to cultivating and training the teaching staff, in which main and assistant professors are the backbone, young lecturers are pioneers, all teachers are of very high quality. Teachers in our school total up to 45, 19 professors and associate professors, 15 teachers with middle titles. Moreover, 24 members have masters degree or upwards, 53.3% the total. In addition, 2 experts of high reputation are employed as part-time professors.
    In our school, there are gigantic teaching buildings and modern multi-media classrooms, computer-centre, standard playground and gymnasium with all kinds of sports and fitness equipments. The bright, spacious cafeteria for students provides a variety of delicacies. Student residential dwellings are equipped with TV-sets and telephones. Cable-TV, Internet terminal and school networks are covering every office, laboratory and student apartment. Our library has more than one million books, 2000 or more periodicals, meanwhile, it has signed agreements with 100 odd domestic academies and 30 odd overseas schools to share the common data.
    The school of electronics and information engineering is guided by Deng Xiaoping's theory and Jiang Zheming's idea of "Three Representives", sticking to the principle of training all-powerful talents in their moral, intellectual and physical development, it is focusing on working for local economy and forest-industry economy from HuNan province to all over China. Drawing together, all members to work hard to improve innovation, also to keep our aspirations realistic. Nowadays, teaching and research in our school are both developing, the undergraduate course is given priority, the postgraduate course is secondary. We have found a way to combine teaching, research and production efficiently, have made an influential, characteristic teaching & research base dealing with a comprehensive range of subjects, well-known in China.
    We have got a great teaching and research group with specialties and subjects that have been completed. There are many obvious advantages to our education, the qualities of the graduated students are very high, they meet the demands that the hi-tech industry wants in the 21century, students with all-powerful talents, with high quality, high standard and high creativity.

    Today undergraduate students of 1300 odd and postgraduate students of 50 odd are studying in our school. In addition, many students are in a great variety of adult educations classes.
    The school, inheriting an old tradition that teaching and training qualities are set great store by, is strictly implementing education policy of the government and teaching thoughts, such as basic knowledge, comprehensive expertise, much experience and practical skills. At the same time, teaching reform is being intensified in the school. In order to enhance students practical competence, we strengthened basic courses and experiment courses, upgraded the teaching methods, adapted textbooks, improved the instructions of students projects, and carried out stern supervision & estimation in class. All of these teaching reforms are showing evidence of guidance and improvement. With all teachers, students hard work, the style of study: doing everything strictly, realistically and striving for innovation, prevails in our school.
    We, under the guidelines to train all all-powerful talents, gave first priority to cultivating and improving students creativity, management ability, communication and analysis skill.
    The school founded prize fellowship for students in poverty, 1st prize is 2000 yuan/year, 2nd prize is 1000 yuan/year, 3rd prize is 500 yuan/year. To relieve more needy students, our school has signed a credit contract with China Bank, these students are able to have a living with loan repaid via part-time job income.
    The school set up a job-seeker centre for graduates, which has collected much recruiting information, and made promotions. It made letters of intent with hundreds of employers all over China. Every year, a lot of talents of electronics & information with high expertize and high quality graduated from our school, because of our school's good reputation, the graduate amounts always fell short of demand. Most of them are working for college, academy, state-owned enterprise, joint venture, some of them are keeping studying for higher degree, others go abroad to study. In 2002, the initial rate of employment after graduation is over 97%, the last rate is 100%.
    The school paid much attention to research, encouraged and supported the whole teaching staff to it. since the foundation of school, it has fulfiled 20 large projects, 8 in great national and provincial projects, including National Natural Science Fund, 863 National Projects, 948 National Projects, and Central-south Forestry University Projects. More than 100 papers have been published in domestic and overseas academic periodicals and seminars, many papers are collected by SCI, EI, ISTP. Works and textbooks are more than 10. In the last two years our school has gained one 2nd class merit of provincial research, two 1st class merit of city research, had a lot of important awards authorized by State Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labour. Our students are also good at applying theories to practice, they won one 3rd prize in the 2000 Hunan Challenge, one 2nd prize of nation, one 1st prize and four 3rd prize of province in the 2001 National College Student Electronics Competition. At the same time, a great progress was made in the application of research projects, for example, "digital circuit experiment box" studied by our school is applied to colleges and approved of by many experts.
    Our school has stricken up many friendships, cooperated with overseas colleges, academies, and companies of information technology, for instance: Ryukyu University in Japan. Every year, a lot of distinguished experts were invited to make lectures in our school, our teachers were assigned to go abroad to visit sister college, taking part in international academic seminars. Many activities in the world were executed, such as: learning exchange, experts visit each other, education is united with common teaching. It assisted teachers and students to keep up with the flow of science and technology, and to have acquaintance with the newest ideas. Their views were extended, thoughts were enhanced, and all propelled the whole teaching and research of the school.
    For the moment, the School of Electronics & Information Engineering is facing an uncommon opportunity; all of its staff and students are drawing together, working hard to improve innovation, keeping our aspirations realistic, intensifying our creativity, trying our best to make an influential, characteristic teaching & research base dealing with a comprehensive range of subjects.
